This capstone represents my journey through the school of visual arts and also acts as a stepping stone for new avenues I want to approach. Whenever I go in to paint I let how I’m feeling dictate what I produce. Whether I’m excited, sad, I want this work to represent that. Doing this ultimately means that I will probably be the only ones who understands what the images, shapes, and symbols mean if there are any. But that’s what I wanted to do with this project. I want to make this something for me, something I can go into and explore my creativity and skills as someone relatively new to the world of painting.
Things change and time passes. We lose people and meet others. Everything fluctuates and the world keeps moving, but this project will be an anchor for me. Something I look at to ground me. My time here at UK is almost done and this will be my last project. It is my last project at the school and my first time practicing ink transfers and expanding on them to create new images. So I guess I’m just teaching myself that there’s always new interests out there, and if I want to learn how to do it then I should just go for it.
