childhood roaming encapsulated
This sculpture depicts forest terrain of a familiar place from my childhood. This place was made up of old and healthy trees, plush grasses, and natural streams and creeks. Terrain like this made the perfect childhood playplace; it provided everything my friends and I needed to create an imaginary land that only we knew. Including these aspects of the forest floor helped to preserve the memories I made here as well as convey an authentic representation for those who didn’t get to experience it themselves. The glass box is a repurposed aquarium that displays the forest, preserved as a moment in time to admire from the outside. This work was intended to act as an antique piece, like displayed furniture in a home to show my history and childhood narrative with this place.
