A woman’s body portrays beauty, grace, and strength. Her body is a temple that should not be taken for granted because she is the giver of all life. For my capstone, I created a series of paintings depicting female nudes in an expressive style. Painting in the nude form is typically first thought as provocative or not viewable to all ages. I want to evoke three different emotions from each painting that is often forgotten about powerful women. The first painting evokes grace in a woman's stature, the second painting evokes beauty for women of all shapes and sizes, and the last painting evokes strength that is not bound by the size of her-self.What I am trying to relay in this message is that a woman’s body is a temple, something beautiful that should not be hidden, and should constantly be viewed and respected as strong, graceful, and beautiful no matter who she is. I kept the bodies white because I wanted to use the negative space and keep the pieces clean with define simple lines to shape the bodies using the dark contrast in the background. The color in the woman’s hair is what evokes these emotions I am attempting to relay to the audience. When I think of the color red it reminds me of strength. When I think of the colors blue and green it makes me feel at peace and reminds me of a woman’s gracefulness. Lastly, when I think of the color purple it reminds me of royalty and beauty shared by every woman because we are all unique and talented in diverse ways.Together these three paintings become the soul of a woman.
